Vasant Panchami 2028 in Melbourne falls on Tuesday, February 1, 2028. Sunrise is 6:32 AM GMT+11.
Dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, arts and wisdom. Devotees perform Saraswati Puja, place books and instruments at her altar, and young children are often initiated into writing their first letters (Vidyarambham/Akshar-abhyasam) on this day.
Heralds the arrival of spring (Vasant). Yellow — the color of blossoming mustard fields — dominates the day: yellow clothes, yellow rice, and marigolds. In Bengal it is a major day for students and schools.
An auspicious (abujha) muhurat: many weddings and housewarmings are held without consulting the almanac. Avoid studying nothing today — tradition encourages starting something new intellectually.
