Hariyali Teej 2028 in Toronto falls on Monday, July 24, 2028. Sunrise is 5:58 AM EDT.
Celebrates the reunion of Shiva and Parvati — the day Shiva accepted Parvati as his wife after her long tapasya. Married women fast for their husbands’ long life and unmarried girls for a good match, worshipping Parvati as Teej Mata.
The festival of the monsoon’s green (hariyali): women in green sarees and mehndi gather at swings hung from trees, sing Teej songs, and receive shrinjhara gifts from their parental home. Especially beloved in Rajasthan, UP and Bihar — Jaipur’s Teej procession is famous.
Swinging, mehndi and green bangles are the day’s signatures. The related Kajari Teej follows in Bhadrapada Krishna paksha.
