Guru Nanak Jayanti 2026 in Bengaluru falls on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. Sunrise is 6:22 AM GMT+5:30.
The Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, founder of Sikhism — teacher of Ik Onkar (One God), honest work, and seva. The same full moon is Kartika Purnima for Hindus: Dev Deepawali, when the gods themselves are said to light lamps on the Ganga, and Tripurari Purnima marking Shiva’s victory over Tripurasura.
Gurdwaras hold Akhand Path (48-hour continuous reading of Guru Granth Sahib), Nagar Kirtan processions, and langar for all. In Varanasi, Dev Deepawali sets a million diyas on the ghats — one of India’s most breathtaking sights.
Everyone is welcome at langar — sharing a meal there honors the day’s spirit. For Hindus, Kartika Purnima snan and deepdan (gifting lamps) close the holy month of Kartika.
