Akshaya Tritiya 2028 in Johannesburg falls on Thursday, April 27, 2028. Madhyahna (midday) moment is 12:05 PM GMT+2.
"Akshaya" means imperishable — merit earned today never diminishes. It marks Parashurama’s birth, the descent of Ganga, the beginning of Treta Yuga, and the day Krishna blessed Sudama and filled Draupadi’s akshaya patra. Charity given today is held to multiply endlessly.
India’s most auspicious day for beginnings — weddings, businesses, and famously gold purchases; jewellers see their biggest day of the year. The Puri Jagannath ratha construction begins today, and Vrindavan’s Banke Bihari reveals his feet (charan darshan) only on this day.
An abujha muhurat — no almanac needed for auspicious work. If buying gold isn’t possible, even a token purchase or a handful of grain given in charity carries the day’s spirit.
